Step into the mindset of ancient astronomers with this evocative exploration of humanity's eternal quest to map the heavens. Circular motifs float like celestial bodies across a landscape of rich earth pigments, whilst cyanotype blues echo the deep night sky that once served as our ancestors' greatest observatory. Copper leaf accents shimmer like distant constellations, creating moments of luminous discovery within the earthbound composition. This piece celebrates the profound human need to find meaning in cosmic patterns, bridging the gap between ancient sky-watchers and our contemporary understanding of the universe.
This is an original painting - hand made local earth pigment paint, copper leaf and cyanotype on mount board.
The natural materials for the paint have been gathered from the north Devon area, processed by hand and left in a fairly coarse state to add texture.
Paintings containing these natural materials bring a real sense of landscape into the work. They inform the choice of colour palette to ensure an authentic feel and connection to the subject.
The painting is 80cm by 20cm and is supplied in an off-white float frame with fixings for wall hanging.
Signed on the reverse with certificate of authenticity.
