'Power of Land' captures the feeling of standing by tall rock stacks atop Rough Tor. These ancient stones, worn smooth by millennia of inclement weather, stand like a guard of honour protecting the memorial on the tor.

The hot pink stone circle and lines of ancient village remnants jar against the natural colour palette, an echo of what has been constructed, the unnatural amongst the natural.

This is an original mixed media painting - charcoal, hand made natural earth pigment paint and ink, acrylic, collage and cyanotype on canvas.

Wording is taken from Philip Marsden's 'Rising Ground' and is reproduced with the authors kind permission.

The natural materials for the paint have been gathered from the local area and further afield, processed by hand and left in a fairly coarse state to add texture.

Paintings containing these natural materials literally have the land that inspired them in the artwork, bringing a real sense of the landscape into the work. They inform the choice of colour palette to ensure an authentic feel and connection to the subject.

The painting is 120cm wide and 100cm tall and is supplied with fixings for wall hanging and off-white painted deep edges.

Mixed media on deep box canvas, unframed.

Signed on the reverse with certificate of authenticity.
