It's Own Place
'Its Own Place' explores the rock formations and natural fort structures found on Bodmin Moor and the idea that they are a place in and of themselves. Weathered, worn, resilient and strong, they have withstood millennia and will remain standing long after we're gone.
This is an original mixed media painting - charcoal, hand made natural earth pigment paints and inks, acrylic paste and cyanotype on raw canvas.
The natural materials for the paint have been gathered from the local area and further afield, processed by hand and left in a fairly coarse state to add texture.
Paintings containing these natural materials literally have the land that inspired them in the artwork, bringing a real sense of the landscape into the work. They inform the choice of colour palette to ensure an authentic feel and connection to the subject.
The painting is 200cm wide and 120cm tall overall and comprises a diptych (2 canvasses each 100cm by 120cm) - these can either be hung together or separately as illustrated.
Supplied with fixings for wall hanging and off-white painted deep edges.
