A Million Stories To Tell
Part of the artist's acclaimed exhibition series at Royal Cornwall Museum (now Cornwall Museum and Art Gallery).
'A Million Stories To Tell' is a reflection on the abandoned Cheesewring quarry on the edge of Bodmin Moor, connecting deep time with modern industry, commercial need with abandonment and now left for nature to reclaim and rewild.
This is an original mixed media painting incorporating natural materials such as earth pigment and copper leaf alongside acrylic medium. The natural materials for the paint have been gathered from the local area and further afield, processed by hand and left in a fairly coarse state to add texture.
Paintings containing these natural materials literally have the land that inspired them in the artwork, bringing a real sense of the landscape into the work. They inform the choice of colour palette to ensure an authentic feel and connection to the subject.
