'Earth Work'

'Earth Work' tells a story of our world - the rich pigments underneath our feet and the power of the sun to nourish and grow. This painting could not have been made without the earth and sun - the scorched and oxidised soil becomes the paint and the UV of the sun creates the blues. It truly is a painting of the work of our beautiful and fragile Earth.

This is an original mixed media painting - charcoal, hand made natural earth pigment paint and ink, and cyanotype on deep box canvas.

The natural materials for the paint have been gathered from the local area and further afield, processed by hand and left in a fairly coarse state to add texture.

Paintings containing these natural materials literally have the land that inspired them in the artwork, bringing a real sense of the landscape into the work. They inform the choice of colour palette to ensure an authentic feel and connection to the subject.

The painting is 120cm wide and 100cm tall and is supplied with fixings for wall hanging and off-white painted deep edges.
