Wild Cliff

'Wild Cliff' is a view that was part of my daily life growing up in Bude,  watching from high up on the viewpoint it would disappear as storms and bands of heavy rain came in across the bay. It was an experience that cemented my love of this place and even moreso my respect for the elements and how wild the weather can be.

Based on the headlands stretching out from Widemouth Bay towards Trevose Head, this is a view that captivates and inspires anyone with a love of the coast.

This is an original mixed media painting - charcoal, hand made local earth pigment paint and acrylic on canvas.

The natural materials for the paint have been gathered from the Bude area, processed by hand and left in a fairly coarse state to add texture.

Paintings containing these natural materials literally have the land that inspired them in the artwork, bringing a real sense of the landscape into the work. They inform the choice of colour palette to ensure an authentic feel and connection to the subject.

The painting is 160cm wide and 110cm tall and is supplied with fixings for wall hanging and wraparound painted deep edges.
