Part of the artist's acclaimed exhibition series at Royal Cornwall Museum (now Cornwall Museum and Art Gallery).

'This Land' sums up all that is magical about Bodmin Moor to me - the wild expansive landscape, the stone formations and the symbolism of circles, from hut circle village remnants to the stone circle ritual sites. Created with natural materials and reflecting the colour palette of the autumn, This Land IS Cornwall!

This is an original mixed media painting incorporating charcoal, hand made natural earth pigment paints and inks, acrylic paste and cyanotype on raw canvas.

The natural materials for the paint have been gathered from the local area and further afield, processed by hand and left in a fairly coarse state to add texture.

Paintings containing these natural materials literally have the land that inspired them in the artwork, bringing a real sense of the landscape into the work. They inform the choice of colour palette to ensure an authentic feel and connection to the subject.
