'Botallack'
Part of the artist's acclaimed exhibition series at Royal Cornwall Museum (now Cornwall Museum and Art Gallery).
Developed from studies of the West Penwith abandoned mines, this hexaptych investigates the co-existence of long abandoned industrial structures and the advance of nature as she reclaims and rewilds the area. Using an exaggerated panorama format to convey an expansive landscape, yet also incorporating the vertiginous vertical drops of the mine shafts, this painting challenges our idea of a landscape painting.
'Botallack' is an original painting incorporating acrylic, charcoal and paint made from the landscape - materials gathered during visits, ground and made into paint back in the studio.
Whilst created to be hung as illustrated, the 6 separate canvas pieces can be hung in a different order or split into smaller arrangements to suit your preference and space.
