Horizons

The horizon line is perhaps the most fundamental element of any landscape - the edge of the world as far as the eye can see, the boundary between earth and sky, between the known and the unknown.

The Horizons collection takes this single element as its organising principle, exploring how a simple line can carry an enormous weight of feeling: the openness of a clear Atlantic horizon, the compression of a horizon obscured by weather, the particular energy of a Cornish horizon at the edge of a continent.

These paintings pair beautifully with coastal and open-plan interiors, and many of the works in this collection have been among my most collected. The horizontal format that many of these pieces take also makes them particularly well suited to above-sofa, above-fireplace, or above-bed placements where a strong linear statement is needed.
