'Sacred Landscapes'

The power and energy of stone circles is deeply embedded in our ancestry and Sacred Landscapes was inspired by Leskernick stone circle on Bodmin Moor. The gold in the image is earth paint made from the land near the site. 

This is an original mixed media painting - charcoal, hand made natural earth pigment paint and ink, oil paint, wax crayon and cyanotype on paper.

The natural materials for the paint have been gathered from the local area and further afield, processed by hand and left in a fairly coarse state to add texture.

Paintings containing these natural materials literally have the land that inspired them in the artwork, bringing a real sense of the landscape into the work and a very tangible connection to the place. They inform the choice of colour palette to ensure an authentic feel and connection to the subject.

The painting is 265cm wide and 207cm tall and will be supplied rolled in a tube.
