Divisions

The Divisions collection examines the lines that structure landscape - field boundaries, horizon lines, the meeting of sea and sky, the divisions between one geological era and another exposed in cliff faces and road cuts.

These paintings are more geometric and considered in their composition than my more gestural work, built from horizontal and vertical divisions that echo the way we read and organise the land around us.

The Divisions works have a quiet authority that suits formal and minimalist interiors particularly well. They are paintings for people who want something with strong visual structure alongside the warmth and depth of a natural palette.
