When Elements Collide

"When Elements Collide" captures the raw energy of Cornwall's coast in those moments when land, sea and sky meet. Whether it's rough seas crashing against the rocks or weather coming in on an onshore wind, the elemental power of this place is both spectacular and humbling.

This is an original mixed media painting - charcoal, hand made local earth pigment paint and acrylic on canvas.

The natural materials for the paint have been gathered from the Bude area, processed by hand and left in a fairly coarse state to add texture.

Paintings containing these natural materials literally have the land that inspired them in the artwork, bringing a real sense of the landscape into the work. They inform the choice of colour palette to ensure an authentic feel and connection to the subject.

The painting is 50cm by 40cm and is supplied in an off-white float frame with fixings for wall hanging.
