Towards Duckpool

'Towards Duckpool' celebrates the coastline north of Bude with the iconic 'circles' on the horizon. As kids this is what my sister and I called the satellite trackers - unsure what they actually did, they were simply 'the circles' to us and have nostalgically remained so!

Whilst this view doesn't exist in reality, for me it captures the hidden beaches along this craggy and dramatic part of the North Cornwall coast.

This is an original mixed media painting - charcoal, hand made local earth pigment paint, cyanotype and acrylic on canvas.

The natural materials for the paint have been gathered from the Bude area, processed by hand and left in a fairly coarse state to add texture.

Paintings containing these natural materials literally have the land that inspired them in the artwork, bringing a real sense of the landscape into the work. They inform the choice of colour palette to ensure an authentic feel and connection to the subject.

The painting is 80cm wide and 100cm tall and is supplied with fixings for wall hanging and off-white painted edges.
