Tidal Guardian

'Tidal Guardian' stands firm against the ever-changing tides as the iconic breakwater challenges the interplay between human engineering and natural forces. The textural natural pigments, hand-gathered from local cliffs, contrast with the deep ocean blues. 

This is an original mixed media painting - charcoal, hand made local earth pigment paint and acrylic on canvas.

The natural materials for the paint have been gathered from the Bude area, processed by hand and left in a fairly coarse state to add texture.

Paintings containing these natural materials literally have the land that inspired them in the artwork, bringing a real sense of the landscape into the work. They inform the choice of colour palette to ensure an authentic feel and connection to the subject.

The painting is 60cm by 60cm and is supplied in an off-white float frame with fixings for wall hanging.
