Midnight Drift

'Midnight Drift' captures the dark nights on the north Cornwall coast, the clear moonlight as the land and sea meet sky.

Barrel rock is a much loved local landmark and, given it's location on the very edge of the breakwater, a dramatic night sky helps capture the atmosphere of its wild environment.

This is an original mixed media painting - charcoal, hand made local earth pigment paint, cyanotype and acrylic on canvas.

The natural materials for the paint have been gathered from the Bude area, processed by hand and left in a fairly coarse state to add texture.

Paintings containing these natural materials literally have the land that inspired them in the artwork, bringing a real sense of the landscape into the work. They inform the choice of colour palette to ensure an authentic feel and connection to the subject.

The painting is 60cm by 80cm and is supplied in an off-white float frame with fixings for wall hanging.
