Maritime Edge

'Maritime Edge' is where earth meets water, and this painting explores the relationship between land and sea and the threshold between elements. The coastline rises to meet the sky, pounded by the waves and weather, the raw elements smoothing and shaping the rocks.

This is an original mixed media painting - charcoal, hand made local earth pigment paint and acrylic on canvas.

The natural materials for the paint have been gathered from the Bude area, processed by hand and left in a fairly coarse state to add texture.

Paintings containing these natural materials literally have the land that inspired them in the artwork, bringing a real sense of the landscape into the work. They inform the choice of colour palette to ensure an authentic feel and connection to the subject.

The painting is 61cm by 51cm and is supplied in an off-white float frame with fixings for wall hanging.
