Moorland Marker
'Moorland Marker', a solitary stone stack standing against the moorland sky and marking a landscape travelled since prehistoric times. Created with earth pigments that echo the granite's weathered surface, this intimate study captures the dialogue between the elements and natural landscape.
This is an original painting - hand made local earth pigment paint on ply board.
The natural materials for the paint are processed by hand and left in a fairly coarse state to add texture.
Paintings containing these natural materials literally have the land that inspired them in the artwork, bringing a real sense of the landscape into the work. They inform the choice of colour palette to ensure an authentic feel and connection to the subject.
The painting is 20cm by 20cm and is supplied in an off-white float frame with fixings for wall hanging.
